Clinical Pharmacology

pharmacologyBecause high cholesterol is such a multifaceted condition, our team responds with a multidisciplinary approach. Our specialists focus on developing a treatment plan to meet your needs that integrates a tailored diet, exercise and pharmacotherapy regimen.

We focus on the treatment and prevention of a range of cholesterol-related conditions. Our board-certified physicians, pharmacists and licensed dietitians provide aggressive treatment plans for:
  • High cholesterol
  • Hypertension
  • Metabolic syndrome
  • Obesity
Recognized as a leader in the field

Our specialists have achieved worldwide recognition for our work in atherosclerosis (a disease in which plaque builds up inside your arteries, also known as hardening of the arteries) and hypercholesterolemia (high fat or lipid levels in blood, which can often lead to atherosclerosis), both of which are major contributors to heart disease.

We are also the only hospital in Kansas or Missouri performing low-density lipoprotein (LDL) apheresis therapy, a highly effective treatment that removes harmful “bad” cholesterol from the blood within two hours. This therapy is an option for those who have not been able to control their LDL cholesterol with medication and diet modification.

Each year, we conduct a number of clinical trials for treatments not yet available to the general population. While all of our patients benefit from advanced research, many have the opportunity to participate directly in clinical trials for weight loss, abnormal cholesterol levels, metabolic syndrome and hypertension as well as in clinical studies of new investigational medications for the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease.
