Exceptional quality

The University of Kansas Hospital's Cardiology & Heart Surgery program has been nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report

External industry groups have recognized the quality and outcomes of our clinical services time and again. Here’s just a sampling:

  • U.S. News & World Report has ranked our cardiology and heart surgery program among the nation's top 50 for 11 consecutive years.
  • For the third consecutive year, Thomson Reuters named us one of the nation's  50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals in 2012. The award recognizes our patient outcomes in treatments for heart failure and heart attacks, including bypass surgery and angioplasty.
  • In February 2012, our center was the first in Kansas to become accredited as an American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline Heart Attack Receiving Center. This status honors our efforts to speed up treatment for patients with the most deadly type of heart attack – when blood flow to the heart is completely blocked.
  • Our Heart Failure Center is the only one in the region with heart failure accreditation from the Healthcare Accreditation Colloquium. This recognizes that all patients get evidence-based care that meets or exceeds quality standards.
