Consumers again name The University of Kansas Hospital No. 1 in KC metro

Kansas City, Kan. — The University of Kansas Hospital has won the 2016-17 National Research Corporation Consumer Choice Award for Kansas City, the only award in which members of the community choose the hospital they believe provides the highest quality service.

It is the fifth year in a row the hospital has won the award for Kansas City outright.

Now in its 21st year, the Consumer Choice Award is based on local results from a national survey of 310,000 households. The award recognizes hospitals possessing:

  • Best overall quality
  • Best overall image/reputation
  • Best doctors
  • Best nurses

The award area covers the 15-county service area. North Kansas City Hospital, Saint Luke's Hospital and Shawnee Mission Medical Center were also ranked locally. The University of Kansas Hospital led those facilities in each of the four categories and when the four categories were combined.

In August, U.S. News & World Report ranked 11 of The University of Kansas Hospital's specialties to its Best Hospitals list and also named the hospital the best in Kansas City for the seventh time.
