The University of Kansas Hospital Wins Consumer Choice Award for Fourth Consecutive Year

Published: 10/23/2015

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — In the only award where members of the community choose the individual hospital they feel provides the highest quality service, The University of Kansas Hospital has won the 2015-16 National Research Corporation Consumer Choice Award for Kansas City.

This is the fourth year in a row The University of Kansas Hospital won the award for Kansas City outright. This is the 20th anniversary of the Consumer Choice Award, which is based on local results from a national survey of 290,000 households. The award recognizes hospitals that possess:

  • Best Overall Quality
  • Best Overall Image/Reputation
  • Best Doctors
  • Best Nurses

The University of Kansas Hospital not only led other area hospitals when these four categories were combined, but in all four individual categories as well.

Earlier this year, The University of Kansas Hospital was one of only 16 hospitals nationwide to be named in all 12 data-driven rankings for the "Best Hospital" lists from U.S. News & World Report. This was the hospital's second year ranking in all 12 categories.

"Consumers have shown their support for the hospital by choosing it in record numbers for their healthcare needs," said Bob Page, president and chief executive officer of The University of Kansas Hospital.

Page also noted that being the choice of consumers means the hospital is often at full capacity and needs additional space. Construction for the 92-bed Cambridge North Tower at 39th and Cambridge Street is underway to fill these needs, with a projected opening in 2017.
