The University of Kansas Health System ranked nationally in 8 specialties on U.S. News & World Report's 2017-18 Best Hospitals List

National League for Nursing Names The University of Kansas Hospital a Center of Excellence

Published: 11/08/2016

Kansas City, Kan. — The National League for Nursing (NLN) has recognized The University of Kansas Hospital as a Center of Excellence in the category of Nursing Education – Promote Academic Progression of Nurses. This is the second time the hospital has received this honor.

The hospital was one of just three academic medical centers in the nation to be named in this category when it initially launched in 2012. This year was just as elite: only four received this designation.

The Center for Excellence honors healthcare facilities that excel at supporting nurses' efforts to continue their academic progression. In the past, the NLN has focused on nursing schools. It was only recently that hospitals and other organizations have been considered for designation.

“Centers of Excellence raise the bar for all nursing programs by serving as role models of visionary leadership and inclusive excellence that nurture the next generation of nurses,” said NLN Chief Executive Officer Beverly Malone, PhD, RN.
