How do I get directions to the main campus?

You can get  driving directions and a map to the main hospital campus. To get driving directions from our automated phone recording, please call:

Where can I park?

Patients and visitors may park in the Cambridge Garage, located directly across from the hospital’s main entrance. Valet parking is also available for patients who require extra assistance. For more information, see Parking Facilities.

How do I get medical help after hours?

Our Emergency Department is open 24/7. If you have a medical emergency, whether life-threatening or not, call 911 immediately.

How can I get information about a patient?

When you call and ask for a patient by name, we can tell you if the patient is here, the patient's location and his or her general condition. Please understand that patients can request that we withhold information from callers. Other special circumstances may prevent us from providing patient information. Please see Patient Privacy.



How do I send flowers or mail to a patient?

You can send Mylar® balloon bouquets* and other gifts through the hospital's Gift Shop. Please have the patient's name and room number ready.

You can also send a patient flowers and Mylar® balloon bouquets* using commercial florists. Cards and letters can be mailed to this address:

What are hospital visiting hours?

General visiting hours are 11:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. For more information, please see our Visiting Guidelines.



Where can I get prescriptions filled?

If you are an outpatient or have been discharged from the hospital, you can fill your prescriptions at our Outpatient Pharmacy. It's located just off the hospital’s main lobby, next to the Information Desk and the escalator. You also can fill your prescriptions at any outside pharmacy.



Where can I smoke?

Smoking or use of tobacco products is not permitted anywhere at The University of Kansas Health System or on the KU Medical Center campus, inside or outside. For more information, see Visiting Guidelines.



Is there an ATM at the hospital?

An automated teller machine (ATM) is located near the cafeteria on the ground floor of the hospital. See Patient and Visitor Services.



What dining options are available?

Family members and visitors are welcome to eat in the cafeteria, located near the main elevator bank on the ground floor of the hospital.

The Roasterie Café is located on Level 1 of the Center for Advanced Heart Care serving distinctive coffees and other items.

How can I get answers to billing questions?

If you have questions, want an explanation of your charges or need help with your hospital bill after you are discharged, call the Patient Financial Services Customer Service Center:

How do I get my medical record?

We're happy to provide you with a copy of your medical record for follow-up care, insurance purposes or your own use. See Medical Records.



How can I participate in a research study?

Patients who are eligible to participate in clinical research trials have the opportunity to receive the most advanced drug therapies or procedures. Your physician will discuss which clinical trials are appropriate for your condition.

How do I contact Patient Relations?

Patient Relations will assist you in all matters related to your satisfaction as a patient or a family member or a friend of a patient. This includes filing a complaint (grievance) regarding unresolved issues or helping you contact state licensing or other accrediting organizations. To contact Patient Relations, please call:

How do I get an interpreter?

As a free service, the health system provides qualified professional and volunteer interpreters, as well as a telephone language line service to assist patients who do not speak English.

Patients who need an interpreter can ask their physician or nurse to call Interpreter Services. If you are making an appointment for a family member or friend who will need an interpreter, please ask the scheduler to request one.

What services are available for the hearing-impaired?
