J. Pat Murphy, MD, FAAP, FACS

pat-murphy-mdDr. John Patrick Murphy is the Chief of Urological Surgery at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics. He is Professor of Surgery at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics through the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Medicine and Clinical Professor at the University of Kansas Medical School.

He received his M.D. degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Dr. Murphy completed his fellowship training at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Pediatric Surgery, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Pediatric Urology. He completed his General Surgery training at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri; Pediatric Surgery training at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics, Kansas City, Missouri; and his Urology training was done at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.

He served as president of the medical staff at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics from 2001-2003 and serves on many hospital committees. He is board-certified in General Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Adult and Pediatric Urology, and Critical Care.

His interests are hypospadias, epispadias and exstrophy.

Dr. Murphy has numerous articles and chapters and has presented at regional, national and international meetings.

His society memberships include American Medical Association, Metropolitan Medical Society, American Academy of Pediatrics (Surgical Section), Kansas City Surgical Society, Kansas City Urological Society, American College of Surgeons, American Pediatric Surgery Association and American Board of Urology.

He has been voted to Best Doctors, Inc., Kansas City Magazine, May 2002, 2004; and Kansas City Top Doctor, Ingrams Magazine, 2001, Special Medical Edition.
