We're Among the Nation's Most Wired Hospitals

Award reflects hospital's dedication to advanced technology

For the 10th year in a row, Healthcare Information Technology Services (HITS) has been recognized by Hospitals & Health Networks in its Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study for 2017.

In this year's Most Wired Survey, there were 698 participants, representing an estimated 2,158 hospitals, or more than 39% of all U.S. hospitals.

The Most Wired Survey evaluates how hospitals and health systems leverage information technology to improve patient care and efficiency. Hospitals and health systems are assessed on progress in adoption, implementation and use of IT in four critical areas:

  • Infrastructure
This includes data-recovery plans, security technology safeguards, enterprise communications systems and integration of medical devices.

  • Business and administrative management
This category includes patient accounting systems, claims submission, financial systems and automated management systems for supplies, medications and equipment.

  • Clinical quality and safety
This includes clinical information systems, medical imaging and electronic health records.

  • Clinical integration
This covers areas such as affiliated and independent physician office electronic medical record connectivity, personal health record and home health.

The University of Kansas Health System was recognized for its strength in security, telehealth and smart technology.
