Payment for same-day surgery

What you need to know

The KU MedWest Ambulatory Surgery Center staff will call your insurance company prior to your appointment to verify your medical benefits. We will obtain any information regarding co-payments, co-insurance and/or deductible amounts that will be your responsibility.

Please be prepared to pay your portion of the bill in full when you arrive for your appointment, unless you have previously made other arrangements. If you do not have insurance, or if your insurance does not cover your procedure, you will still be required to pay your bill on the day of your procedure if you have not made other arrangements.

For most procedures, we accept cash, personal checks, most major credit cards and debit cards. We do not accept personal checks for cosmetic procedures.

Additional bills

In addition to our fee, you may receive separate bills that include:

  • Physician's or surgeon's services
  • Anesthesia, if required
  • Laboratory tests, if required
  • Radiology imaging, before or during your procedure
  • Pathology, if tissue or specimens were removed

The KU MedWest Ambulatory Surgery Center does not process any of these additional bills. For assistance, please contact the respective billing offices with any questions regarding these services. Contact information will be included in the bill or view more information about patient billing here.
