This will be the second obstetrics and gynecology clinic the hospital has in Wyandotte County, with the hospital's main campus being the other clinic. There are five other University of Kansas Hospital clinics around the metro offering specialized services for women, including advanced reproductive medicine, primary obstetrics and gynecology, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, advanced fetal care and high risk pregnancy.
"We believe it is vital that we improve access to essential women's care in Wyandotte County. We have the largest obstetrics and gynecology practice in the metro offering advanced medicine to women throughout the area. It is part of our mission to reach out to women in our home county," said Carl Weiner, MD, the K.E. Krantz professor and chair of obstetrics and gynecology at The University of Kansas Hospital.
The gynecology program at The University of Kansas Hospital is the only one in the region nationally ranked on the U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals list. The program ranks 38th, based on measurable achievements in quality of patient care.
Dr. Farris says the clinic will play a key role for women in the area surrounding the clinic.
