Topeka, Kan. — The University of Kansas Health System has partnered with Topeka Public Schools (TPS 501) to open a health clinic at Topeka High School (THS) this month.
The Campus Care clinic will offer comprehensive teen-focused primary care. In addition, THS students will be able to receive physicals, walk-in care, vaccines and lab testing among other wellness services without leaving the campus.

"We are committed to serving the whole child. I have witnessed the positive effects in-school clinics have on student health and success, and we thank The University of Kansas Health System in partnering to help us serve the mental and physical health needs in our school community."

Staff will be onsite starting Jan. 23, 2019, and Campus Care will be available for patients later this semester. Parents or guardians will need to give permission for their child to be seen. The clinic will be staffed by a certified nurse practitioner, and will be open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Once opened, the clinic will serve THS students solely. Available medical services include:
- Annual age-appropriate risk assessment
- Asthma nebulizer treatment
- Blood draw
- Blood glucose testing
- BMI measurement
- Mental health screening and referral
- Physicals
- Pregnancy testing
- Rapid strep testing
- Sports physicals
- Urinalysis dip testing
- Vaccines – meningitis and HPV
- Walk-in care
Future plans include expanding access to the broader school community, including teen and adult family members of students as well as the faculty and staff at THS.
