Heart Program Receives National Accreditation

The University of Kansas Hospital has earned the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline Heart Attack Receiving Center Accreditation. Our hospital is the only center in the Kansas City area, the only one in the state of Kansas, and one of a very few in the country to receive this accreditation.

The AHA accreditation recognizes hospitals that most quickly and effectively treat STEMI patients, those whose blood flow to the heart is completely blocked. It also highlights our accomplishments and recognizes our commitment to providing our patients the highest quality cardiac care centered on current scientific research.

To earn the AHA accreditation, we excelled in key areas that include:

  • Following protocols for triage, diagnosis and cath lab activations
  • Accepting all STEMI patients
  • Providing 24/7 cath lab intervention
  • Successfully treating a high volume cath lab of patients
