Spine center adds location in Overland Park

Indian Creek CampusSuffering from back pain? You’re not alone. In fact, 8 in 10 adults will experience severe back pain at some time in their lives. Back pain is the leading cause of disability for Americans younger than 45.

To better serve the growing number of patients with back pain and those who need other spine care services, The University of Kansas Hospital’s Marc A. Asher, MD, Comprehensive Spine Center has opened a location in Overland Park, Kansas.

Conveniently located at the hospital’s new Indian Creek Campus, the clinic is near Nall Avenue and Indian Creek Parkway in southern Johnson County.

Comprehensive spine care

Fellowship-trained physicians at the clinic provide care in six specialties, welcoming patients who experience back, joint or neck pain; receive sports, work-related or other musculoskeletal injuries; or develop spinal deformities or infections.

“Our patients receive the highest level of care in the region,” said Talal W. Khan, MD, medical director of interventional pain services. “Our clinic’s unique combination of specialists allows us to tailor the most appropriate care plan for the patient after a thorough evaluation and discussion of the individual’s expectations and goals.”

Each consultation involves extensive discussion with the patient about lifestyle, self-management and other factors that may influence treatment decisions, Dr. Khan noted.

Specific services

Patients have access to the full complement of spine evaluation and treatment services, all under one roof.

Specific services include:

  • Comprehensive evaluation
  • Diagnostic tests (X-rays, EMG and nerve conduction studies)
  • Physical therapy
  • Interventional pain procedures
  • Image-guided spinal procedures (including epidural steroid injections, facet injections, selective nerve root blocks, sacroiliac injections, radiofrequency rhizotomy, discography and advanced pain procedures such as spinal cord stimulation)
  • Neuromuscular assessments

The additional location provides patients even quicker access to trained specialists and expert spine care. The Indian Creek Campus is at 10720 Nall Avenue.
