Pediatric palliative and chronic illness care

The pediatric palliative care team at The University of Kansas Hospital provides inpatient and outpatient services to meet the physical, psychological, social, educational and spiritual needs of children who have:

  • Chronic illnesses (illnesses that last three months or longer)
  • Life-limiting conditions
  • Parents, siblings or other family members with serious illnesses

KU Kids Healing Place provides a range of services for the unique and individual needs of infants, toddlers, children and adolescents. The center works with families to identify and address needs in all environments, including hospital, home, school, daycare and extracurricular activities
Services can be provided at any stage of illness. Our specialty-trained team:

  • Helps families identify and access needed resources
  • Offers training and support to families, health care providers, teachers, peers, coaches and others
  • Brings medical providers and families together to create a patient-centered care plan
  • Provides spiritual and emotional support to patients and families
