Mammograms save lives – where you get yours matters

When it’s time for your annual screening mammogram, you can get your 3D mammogram from a team you can trust at The University of Kansas Health System Great Bend Campus.

When breast cancer is detected at its earliest stage it’s 99% curable. Take an active role in your breast health and make time for your annual mammogram.

3D mammography is the latest and most advanced breast screening imaging available. Yet technology is only as good as the people who use it, and the experienced imaging team in Great Bend is your best option in the area.

Our imaging team includes our board-certified radiologist who is fellowship-trained in breast imaging and our imaging manager who has more than 25 years of experience in medical imaging.

Women at average risk of breast cancer should begin annual mammogram screening at age 40.

• Screening appointments are available 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and select Saturdays.
• If you are age 40 or older, you may be able to schedule a screening without a referral or order from your primary care provider.
• The results of your screening will be available in MyChart, our patient portal, or you can request a paper copy.
• Results can be sent to your primary care provider or another provider who ordered it.
• If necessary, we will provide you with a streamlined referral to The University of Kansas Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center and 1 of only 54 in the nation.

Most instances of breast cancer are found by women during their normal daily routine, like while showering or getting dressed. If you find a lump or have other symptoms such as breast pain or swelling, please let us know when you call for an appointment. A mammogram for a lump or other concern is different than a screening.
