Pediatric Critical Care

Progressive Approaches to the Treatment of Critically Ill Children

The University of Kansas Hospital's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides state-of-the-art care for children and adolescents with life-threatening illnesses and injuries. In fact, other community hospitals often transfer their sickest children to our hospital.

Highly skilled nurses and intensivists (physicians with extensive training in pediatric critical care medicine) staff our PICU around the clock.

Nearly 400 children from across Kansas and Missouri are admitted to our family-focused PICU every year. Parents have 24-hour access to the unit and are encouraged to spend the night.
