A Note From the Chairman

johnson-200I am delighted to welcome you to our website. I invite you to explore this site and learn more about us. We have a long history of commitment to the tripartite mission of clinical care, education and research. This commitment is immutable and critical to our goal of being a world-class academic radiology department.

The Health System's nationally recognized programs and National Cancer Institute designation establish The University of Kansas Hospital as a premier destination for patient care. Our mission, first and foremost, is to provide exceptional, compassionate and state-of-the-art care to our patients. We've pioneered innovative and advanced imaging techniques and minimally invasive image-guided interventions that translate to improved care and better outcomes for our patients. Over the past decade, we have experienced tremendous growth and have placed a strategic priority on quality, safety and value.

Education is an important priority for our department and this is demonstrated by our outstanding residency program and distinguished fellowships in interventional radiology, neuroradiology, musculoskeletal radiology, body imaging and breast radiology. A concerted effort to expand our role in medical student education is a priority. Our faculty and staff are committed to teaching and mentoring the future leaders of radiology.

We are dedicated to conducting cutting-edge clinical research and mentoring our trainees in scientific discovery. Research is an essential component to our academic mission and we have made a renewed commitment to this domain. We are making significant investments in research personnel, infrastructure, education and strategic collaborations with the goal of establishing a preeminent and sustainable radiology research program at The University of Kansas Hospital.

Our greatest strength is the quality of people on our team. I am thankful for the opportunity to work with such a talented and dedicated group. Thank you for your interest in our radiology services and for visiting our site.
