Boley Conference Room on the 1st floor of the main hospital

This class will provide you with the essential information that you need to breastfeed your baby successfully. This class covers the benefits of breastfeeding, positioning your baby for feedings, signs of a good latch, how to know your baby is getting enough to eat, making a plentiful milk supply, hospital practices that support breastfeeding, newborn feeding behaviors and addresses the most common breastfeeding concerns.

Support people and coaches are encouraged to attend.

Breastfeeding classes are held immediately following the Prepared Childbirth classes.

Covers: Breastfeeding WHO & AAP Recommendations, Breastfeeding Benefits, Milk production and maintenance of supply, Hospital practices that promote BF success, Skin to skin contact/rooming in/baby led feeding/avoiding bottles and supplements, Positions, Signs of a good latch, Signs of adequate intake and output, Normal newborn feeding behavior (sleepy and crying), Normal weight loss and regain/normal growth patterns, Concerns about not enough milk, Sore nipples/blocked ducts/mastitis, Community resources
