Spiced Nuts 3 Ways

Ingredients

1 egg white

1 tsp. water

24 oz. pecan halves (or substitute other nuts)

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tsp. salt

1 Tbsp. spice blend – Cajun, Asian or Holiday

Cajun Spice Blend:

1 tsp. ground mustard powder

1/2 tsp. sweet smoked paprika

1/2 tsp. fine ground black pepper

1/2 tsp. onion powder

1/2 tsp. garlic power

Blend all ingredients before adding to egg whites.

Asian Spice Blend:

1 tsp. wasabi powder (mix this with water in nut recipe before adding to egg whites)

1/2 tsp. ground ginger

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1 Tbsp. sesame seeds (black, white or combination)

Blend all ingredients before adding to egg whites.

Holiday Spice Blend:

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. ground ginger

1/3 tsp. ground cloves

1/3 tsp. ground cayenne pepper

1/3 tsp. nutmeg

Blend all ingredients before adding to egg whites.

Yield: 4 6-oz. bags

Serving size: 2 oz.

Preparation

In a small bowl, beat egg white until frothy. Add water, beating until peaks form. Stir in nuts and toss to coat. Combine brown sugar and your choice of spice mixture with salt, stirring into the nuts. Spread nuts evenly on a greased baking pan.

Bake at 325° for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool on waxed paper.

When completely cooled, package in decorative cellophane gift bags.
