Central Link Services

Healthcare worker on the phone

Central Link Services is a network of healthcare providers and facilities across Kansas and the region. It is designed to improve the operational efficiencies of healthcare organizations by leveraging economies of scale and strategic partnerships.

We are building several service offerings for members, beginning with network meetings and supply chain. Hospitals that have signed with Central Link Services can now access The University of Kansas Health System’s academic medical center tier contract pricing.

In response to other member requests, needs and market opportunities, we are developing additional service solutions.

Our goal through Central Link Services is to improve the quality of healthcare for Kansans and provide access to care not otherwise available to the people of Kansas and beyond.

Products and service offerings

Quarterly executive council meetings

C-Suite level structured networking meetings allow discussion of hot topics, idea sharing and learning from peer-member facilities. The interactive structure allows open dialogue and brainstorming to drive additional value for members.

Monthly supply chain council meetings

Supply chain leader-level meetings provide updates from Vizient and Captis contract initiatives, capital equipment group-buy opportunities, purchased services offerings and featured presentations. The interactive format allows members to engage with peers across the network.

Monthly pharmacy council meetings

Pharmacy leader-level meetings provide updates from Vizient and Captis contract initiatives and featured presentations. The interactive format allows members to engage with peers across the network.

Supply contracting and compliance

The supply chain program will roster the member company as an affiliate member of The University of Kansas Health System in the Vizient Group Purchasing Program. This provides access to the Captis contract portfolio, Vizient AMC and aggregate tiers and locally negotiated pricing for supplies when applicable. In addition, members gain access to tools, templates and educational offerings backed by The University of Kansas Health System supply chain team.

Support areas include:

  • Clinical Supply Optimization
Clinical Supply Optimization (CSO) is a leading-edge interdisciplinary strategy that informs decision-making to optimize utilization of products or services while eliminating harm, improving outcomes and reducing costs. Supply decisions are made through engagement with clinical effectiveness committees, insights of multiple data sources, knowledge through clinical literature and process that drives continuous improvement. The CSO team combines value analysis and utilization management to implement and monitor supply spending throughout the contract cycle.
  • Business sourcing strategies
The business sourcing strategies team manages the contract cycles of supply and service contracts. This includes the relationships with Captis, Vizient and suppliers. When applicable, the team negotiates local pricing to ensure all supplies and services are competitive in the market.
  • Business applications and analytics
The business analytics team will include applicable member data when analyzing new contract initiatives and savings opportunities. The team provides decision-making data and reporting to maintain top-tier efficiency.

The pharmacy program provides 340b and non-340b purchasing profiles. Like supply contracting, pharmacy utilizes Captis, Vizient and local negotiations to drive market-competitive pricing. In addition, members have access to our health system’s pharmacy experts for questions and best practice sharing.

The capital equipment program uses economies of scale by combining member needs with health system purchases to negotiate better value for all. Quote review and ad hoc requests are also included in the program.

The purchased services program extends service offerings to members to achieve additional value from service providers. Like supply contracting, the services portfolio utilizes Captis, Vizient and local contracts to drive market-competitive pricing and ensure service providers are leading providers in their respective markets.
