Ingredients
3 cups (2 cans) cooked garbanzo beans or black beans
1/2 cup sesame tahini
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 tsp. garlic powder or 2-3 cloves, crushed
1 tsp. ground cumin
1-2 tsp. sea salt or Herbamare, to taste
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup bean cooking liquid or water to desired consistency
Directions
Place ingredients except for olive oil and cooking liquid or water into a food processor and process until smooth. Carefully open vent of food processor/blender and add olive oil slowly (while food processor is on) to incorporate oil and create a creamy consistency. Taste the hummus to see if it needs more lemon, tahini, garlic or salt; adjust as needed. Add more water/bean “broth” for a thinner consistency and process again.
