Marlene Deal has volunteered at The University of Kansas Cancer Center – Lee’s Summit for more than two years. In fact, she was the first one to sign up. As a cancer survivor and former patient, Deal had advocated for a volunteer program at the Lee’s Summit location.
“My experience with cancer and cancer treatment completely changed my perspective on life,” she said. “I really enjoyed visiting with the other patients while we were getting treatment, and I didn’t want to give that up when my treatment ended.”
