Every year since 2007, The University of Kansas Hospital has earned recognition among the nation's best hospitals, this year ranking in nine medical and surgical specialties. And again we were honored as the best hospital in Kansas City and in Kansas.
Vizient's Top 10 Academic Medical Centers
In the most robust study of its kind of American academic hospitals, The University of Kansas Health System ranked 5th among 99 academic hospitals in quality and patient safety outcomes, receiving Vizient's 2018 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Award.
The award recognizes high performance in the areas of safety, timeliness, effectiveness, efficiency, equity and patient-centeredness. Vizient rankings are widely considered the most comprehensive in healthcare because they are based entirely on objective data related to patient outcomes.
Press Ganey's Pinnacle of Excellence Award
The University of Kansas Health System is a proud recipient of the 2017 Press Ganey Pinnacle of Excellence Award. The honor recognizes extraordinary achievements of top-performing healthcare organizations.
Our health system was recognized for our consistently high level of excellence in patient experience. The award honors the top three performers in each of several organization-type categories based on three years of performance data (May 2014-April 2017). The University of Kansas Health System was a top-ranked academic medical center for patient experience.
The award represents an important recognition from an industry leader in measuring, understanding and improving the patient experience.
Becker's Hospital Review
Becker's Hospital Review named The University of Kansas Health System to its 2018 listing of 100 Great Hospitals in America. We are the only hospital in Kansas to earn this distinction. Hospitals on the list have a strong history of innovation, high-level patient care, research-based clinical treatment and a reputation for community impact. Hospitals were selected based on recognition from U.S. News & World Report, Truven Health Analytics, Healthgrades, the American Nurses Credentialing Center and The Leapfrog Group, among others.
