LAWRENCE, Kan. — The University of Kansas Health System on June 14 formally christened its Sports Medicine and Performance Center in Lawrence.
The new center offers services in diagnostic imaging, surgical and nonsurgical treatments, postinjury education and physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Jeffrey Randall, MD, leads the 11-person center. He continues as a team physician with the Kansas Athletics Sports Medicine; in 2001 he was named head orthopedic surgeon for more than 500 student-athletes.
This month's open house and ribbon cutting attracted a big turnout by the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, reflecting members' support of academic medicine's expansion into the community.
Lawrence marks the health system's 5th Sports Medicine and Performance Center location. Others are at the main campus, KU MedWest, Indian Creek Campus and Truman Sports Complex.
