TVs Offline Much of Wednesday, Dec. 20, for Upgrade

December 19, 2017

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — More than 800 televisions in the main hospital, the Center for Advanced Heart Care, the Medical Office Building and several University of Kansas Medical Center buildings will be disabled Wednesday, Dec. 20, as technicians convert the TVs from analog to digital feeds.

The project to upgrade to high-definition television monitors will begin at 3:30 a.m. when technicians from Spectrum perform preliminary work for about three hours on the cable system. Shortly after that, maintenance technicians from The University of Kansas Health System will begin monitor-by-monitor reprogramming.

All TVs in clinics, waiting rooms, cafeterias and patient rooms will be out during the work. The project is expected to be completed Wednesday evening.

When the project is finished, patients will have clearer picture resolution, easier-to-understand channel lineups and more channels.
