Cures Act Changes When You Receive Visit Notes and Test Results in MyChart

April 09, 2021

Kansas City, Kan. — The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services 21st Century Cures Act requires our health system – and all healthcare providers – to share notes and test results with patients in a timely manner. The health system automatically shares notes from your care team after you have received services. You will also automatically receive lab and imaging results. Notes and results can be viewed in the MyChart patient portal.

On October 1, 2020, the health system began sharing clinic visit notes with patients in MyChart after the care provider has signed off on them.

The following changes became effective at the health system April 1, 2021.

  • Inpatient, emergency department and surgical notes are available via MyChart immediately after they are signed.
  • All results, including laboratory results, radiology, pathology, microbiology, cardiac studies and blood bank results in all settings – inpatient and outpatient – are shared to MyChart immediately when the final result is made available to your care team.
    • We are not sharing results for tests ordered and provided by an external organization or provider.

Note: If a test was ordered by one of our health system providers but processed elsewhere, it will be released in MyChart.
