Dr. Yoon Hang "John" Kim Joins Integrative Medicine as New Medical Director
The integrative medicine program at The University of Kansas Health System welcomes Yoon Hang "John" Kim, MD, as its new medical director.
He succeeds Jeanne Drisko, MD, who founded integrative medicine at the health system in 1998.
"Dr. Kim brings extensive work experience in integrative medicine and a common-sense business approach to the practice, as well as extraordinary skill in traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture," Dr. Drisko says.
Dr. Kim most recently served as the director of integrative medicine at the Miami Cancer Institute. Prior to that, he was director of Georgia Integrative Medicine in Tyrone, Georgia. He has held teaching positions at the University of West Georgia, the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley, California, and the California Institute for Integral Studies in San Francisco.
He attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he received the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Student Research Fellowship.
Dr. Kim will join integrative medicine at The University of Kansas Health System on January 2 and will begin seeing patients soon afterward.
"It is an honor to join the integrative medicine program at The University of Kansas Health System," Dr. Kim says, describing it as a dream position.
"I am fortunate to be able to segue into focusing on education and expanding the workforce in integrative medicine, and to continue the research work that began 20 years ago," he says.
New practice manager
Integrative medicine also welcomes Janet Stevenson as its new practice manager.
Stevenson, who has a background working with the holistic and integrative medicine community, says she's excited for the opportunity to join and support the dynamic team of practitioners.
"I look forward to organizing systems and streamlining processes and helping the team be more efficient and effective,"Stevenson says.
Stevenson grew up just south of Kansas City and has spent most of her life in the area.
