Hurlbut Recovery Pavilion
Our Hurlbut Recovery Pavilion provides a comfortable atmosphere to help patients and their families feel more at home during recovery. The pavilion honors David Hurlbut, who donated funds to create the facility. He credits our burn team with saving his life.
In 1988, David Hurlbut spent more than two months in the Burnett Burn Center. He was injured when a vat for coating metal pipes exploded six feet in front of his face, showering him with molten asphalt. With fourth-degree burns over 25 percent of his body, Hurlbut was unconscious for six weeks and underwent 27 surgeries on his torso, face, head, hands and legs.
Today Hurlbut is a dedicated father and a vital member of his community. He enjoys fishing, working on cars and driving his dune buggy.
Patients can create a secure, personalized website to communicate with family and friends 24/7.
