Patients with Alzheimer’s require increasingly more care as their disease worsens. Both patients and their caregivers need many resources to help them navigate a disease that robs people of memory and function over time. The University of Kansas Health System provides care in the hospital and in clinics and suggests patients and their families reach out to community organizations for additional assistance as needed.

Turning Point

The University of Kansas Health System has partnered with Turning Point: The Center for Hope and Healing to provide support for chronically ill patients and their families battling cancer, chronic heart failure, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), fibromyalgia, kidney disease, diabetes and other diseases. The organization also works with caregivers to give them knowledge, coping techniques and support beyond care traditionally provided in a hospital setting. Here, patients with serious or chronic illnesses find additional services and programs that address the psychological, social, emotional and physical needs that accompany their illnesses.
