Patient Information

What to expect on your first visit

Patients come to The University of Kansas Health System from all over the region for the expertise and counsel of our health care team. On your first visit to the hospital, you can expect to have a full neurological exam done. There is a possibility you will have imaging tests or spinal taps ordered as well.

How to prepare

If you have seen another doctor, please bring all images and tests that have been done elsewhere to your first visit. If you have had an MRI, please bring the actual images with you to your first appointment if at all possible.

The University of Kansas Health System welcomes new patients who are referred by other doctors from throughout the area. To reach a department at the health system in order to refer a patient, please call 913-588-5862. We also encourage prospective patients to contact us directly. New patient packet

In advance of your first visit to the hospital, it’s a good idea to fill out forms that include your health history and insurance information. At your first visit as a new patient, you will be provided literature that explains the disease and gives information about living with MS and increasing the quality of life.
