Chiari & Syringomyelia

Our Chiari & Syringomyelia Program offers state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment tools for patients with these disorders. These disorders can be seen in any age group from children to the elderly.

Diagnostic evaluation

The University of Kansas Health System has advanced imaging techniques for the evaluation of Chiari malformation and Syringomyelia with the most advanced MRI capabilities, including a 3 Tesla magnet. Special flow sequences can be helpful to surgeons in evaluating these disorders.

Treatment options

Surgeons will evaluate the patient and review their imaging to determine the best treatment option. If surgery is necessary, surgeons will choose the best approach for the individual patient.
