Medical Professional

The University of Kansas Hospital Poison Control Center serves the State of Kansas for poison exposures and drug information. In the next year, our center will be applying for national certification by the American Association of Poison Control Centers. It is our hope that with your help we can improve the care that we provide to the people of Kansas with poison exposures.

Didactic education in medical toxicology is provided through our affiliation with the University of Kansas Hospital and the University of Kansas Medical Center. Students from the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing are invited participate in clerkship rotations in clinical toxicology during their clinical training years. Residents (housestaff) in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Pathology and Clinical Pharmacy may also complete clinical rotations in the Poison Control Center. In addition, lectures are frequently provided to practicing physicians at CME programs including our annual Kansas Toxicology Conference.

In addition, we are proud to offer a chart designating the numbers and types of antidotes that we recommend Kansas hospitals have on stock.

Feel free to contact The University of Kansas Hospital Poison Control Center for additional information or to inquire about health care professional education.
